I kind of fell into the hair industry by accident. I was a newly wed working 2 jobs, going to school full time-ish, and knew moving out of state for grad school (for the hubs) was a very likely possibility. I wanted a career that I could take with me where ever we lived, would benefit my family, and allow me to be more creative and touch lives.
When my a good friend LaRee suggested Cosmetology school, I wasn’t totally sold but loved that it checked most of the boxes.
Then, I started school and a light bulb went off! It just made sense to me.
We can’t lose that extra 10 pounds in a week, the jeans don’t always fit, you can’t always find the shoes that give you the power strut, sometimes the new makeup everyone loves gives you pimples; but your hair doesn’t have to suck
Are you ready to feel more confident?
The Why
I started on this career path because I saw a way to take care of my family, be creative, and have a flexible schedule, and meet new people. The longer I’ve been in this industry the more I find myself staying to elevate the industry, help fix the gaps in our education programs, celebrate our diversities, and create safe spaces for the people I meet.
The woman I get to work with everyday are some of the most hard working dedicated woman I know. Together, we help motivate, encourage, and work as a collective.
In our salon we take care of each other and our guests. We respect each other and our guests. We maintain and encourage healthy boundaries. We take the time that each guests hair needs to accomplish our goals. We maintain an atmosphere of safety and belonging.
Are you ready to meet your new hair besties?
XO, Ashlee
